Unique art activity for children at school, birthday parties and home.

Painting coconuts is a fun art classroom or party activity! Have guests paint them at your party for their own memento. Great for kids too. Educators: these are great for art class! Because of the ease of clean up and availability of a wide variety of products, we use acrylic based paint, paint pens, an acrylic clear top coat to seal and protect and finally permanent markers to add detail and lettering. You could use lacquer based if you like, just make sure that all products are the same type - either all acrylic or all lacquer.

For children's parties, you may want to prepaint the half shell with a theme, then let the children add details and embellishments. This reduces drying time and the coconut will be ready to take home at the end of the party.
